NSW: Liverpool mayor stands aside over Bulldogs project

SYDNEY, Aug 26 AAP - The mayor of Liverpool's city council, George Paciullo, todaystood aside over allegations involving the Canterbury Leagues Club's Oasis project.

Mr Paciullo said he was standing aside to allow the ICAC to examine the issue.

"Following allegations about recent travel trips, I will be asking the ICAC to assessthese claims, and will offer them full assistance in their inquiries," Mr Paciullo said.

The Oasis project is an ambitious $900 million sporting and residential developmentin the heart of Liverpool, in Syndey's west.

It is a joint venture between Liverpool Council and the leagues club.
